Silkwood has been designed to take the hassle out of transforming your home with the beauty of a natural timber floor. Silkwood Engineered Flooring is constructed in a special cross-ply configuration, making it extremely stable. It also has the added convenience of being able to be installed in a matter of hours and walked on within hours.

What’s more, the extensive Silkwood range is made right here in Australia from environmentally sustainable Australian species using the most technologically advanced machinery, ensuring perfect results every time.

Silkwood

Silkwood’s 3-layer construction consists of a top layer, a core layer and a stabilising bottom layer. Each layer is bonded and pressed together using the latest heat and pressure techniques, with the glue specifically designed for Boral Timber Flooring’s requirements. This 15mm thick timber floor locks together using a tongue and groove system to create a beautiful timber floor that comes already coated and polished.

The Top Layer is 4mm of solid Australian species. This is the wear layer of the product and is factory finished with 6 coats of UV-cured acrylic for a beautiful scratch resistant finish.

Quick installation

Silkwood Engineered Flooring can be installed in a matter of hours, directly over a number of surfaces such as:

  • Over a concrete slab
  • Over particle board or plywood sub-flooring
  • Over ceramic tiles or vinyl
  • Over old timber

There are four fundamental points to consider when installing Silkwood Engineered Flooring

  • The subfloor should be clean, dry and level in all cases. Silkwood is predominantly installed as a floating floor over existing structural flooring or can also be glued directly onto the subfloor - particular preparation is vital for successful installation.
  • In a floating floor installation method, use an effective underlay.
  • Leave a small gap around the edge of the floor to allow for the natural expansion associated with timber
  • Finish the floor with the appropriate trims, available from your retailer World of Timber
